Our 1-Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently to workplace emergencies. On successful completion of the practical assessment, you’ll receive a recognised first aid qualification.

What You'll Learn

After completing the course and obtaining your SIA Licence, you can apply for roles such as:

Understanding the role of a first aider
Assessing emergency situations and calling for help
Priorities of first aid treatment
CPR and the safe use of an AED
Managing an unconscious casualty
Controlling severe bleeding and treating shock
Burns and scalds
Choking emergencies
Seizures (including epilepsy)
Minor injuries and poisoning

We also offer free online basic first aid training to help you build your knowledge. Please note that online training alone does not qualify you as a certified first aider. A recognised qualification is awarded only after successfully completing the practical training and assessment.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Qualification

To achieve your Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Certificate, you’ll need to complete a 1-day classroom training course and successfully pass the practical assessment. The qualification meets HSE guidelines and is widely recognised across the UK.

The EFAW qualification is one of the accepted first aid certificates required when applying for an SIA licence, making it an essential step for anyone pursuing a career in the private security industry.

This course is ideal for low-risk workplaces, including offices, shops, and small businesses. While higher-risk environments such as construction sites, factories, and warehouses typically require the more advanced First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification, EFAW provides the essential skills needed to respond effectively to workplace emergencies.

Assessment

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course is assessed through practical participation during the classroom session. Your trainer will evaluate your understanding as you complete the course activities and practical exercises.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to successfully complete your assessments and apply for your SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
